The NSCO played our first concert of the season at Sunrise Seniors’ Living in North Vancouver on Wednesday evening, to an enthusiastic audience. Our assistant conductor, Bruce Irschick led us through our program, and bantered with the front row music lovers. 2015 Christmas Concerts

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, we’ll play our first Christmas concert of 2015 at Inglewood Care Centre in West Vancouver. This has been a regular gig for NSCO for many years, and we look forward to seeing many familiar faces this year. We have five new members playing with us this year, as well, the family of one of our violinists will join the residents to see the show and join in the Christmas carol sing along.

The following Wednesday, we’ll rehearse together for our Winter Celebration Concert on Sunday, December 13 at 2 p.m. (at Lynn Valley Community Room, Lynn Valley Centre, across from the North Vancouver District Library and an excellent coffee shop).

We’ll be playing a selection of music, from Britten’s Simple Symphony to the Game of Thrones theme, and a brand new work by Vancouver violinist and composer Cameron Wilson – best described as a Christmas mashup!

Complimentary treats and warm apple cider will be shared during intermission.

Our final concert of the season will be the following Tuesday evening at Central City Lodge in downtown Vancouver, with many old friends and music enthusiasts in the audience.

AGM tonight

Our annual AGM will be held tonight, at the end of rehearsal.

We’re busy preparing for our first two performances of the season – a Culture Days open rehearsal with members of Ambleside Orchestra and Vancouver Philharmonic at the Gordon Smith Gallery in North Vancouver on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 12:30 til 2:30 p.m.
Come join us! We’ll be rehearsing Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and Brahms’ Variations on a Theme by Haydn. Registration link is on our Facebook page.

Also, we’ve been invited to perform at Trolley Dances, on Sunday, Sept. 27 in the afternoon, at a secret location (audiences will be transported by trolleys to a variety of dance performances at a number of locations – the surprise is half the fun).
